The SAT exam (Scholastic Assessment Test) is an internationally recognized university entrance exam administered by the College Board. It is accepted by universities across the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia, and it is also valid for university applications by international students.
As of 2023, the SAT exam is administered entirely in a digital format. Taken through the Bluebook application, the exam lasts 2 hours and 14 minutes and has a modular, adaptive structure.
| Section | Duration | Questions | Content |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reading & Writing | 64 min (2×32 min modules) | 54 questions | Short passages, grammar, analytical reading |
| Math | 70 min (2×35 min modules) | 44 questions | Algebra, data analysis, geometry, trigonometry |
The SAT exam is scored on a total scale of 400–1600 points. Each section (Reading & Writing and Math) is calculated on a 200–800 point scale. Wrong answers do not cancel out correct ones, so it is always advantageous to attempt every question.
The SAT exam measures critical thinking, problem-solving, analytical reading and mathematical reasoning skills. Universities use this exam to assess the academic readiness of their applicants.
The SAT exam is generally taken by students in the 10th, 11th and 12th grades of high school. Candidates should have an English level of at least B2. The results can be used for university applications both at home and abroad.
